I know Jack Kerouac did that, but ...
I'm two weeks into an extended road trip in northern England and south Scotland to find us a suitable place to relocate. There's no end date for this journey, just the condition that I need to cover and learn about the areas we've short-listed. get a feel for how life would be there as a resident, not as a tourist.
Northumberland, and Galloway, both have a great deal to offer people like us who want a more rural life with space for gardens and animals. We've visited these areas before, and love them both. Our new home is out here somewhere, we just have to find it.
As well as looking for a new homeland, I'm trying to keep up with writing, and so seek out inspiring spots for late evening and early morning sessions. It's not always easy to find somewhere, but I thought I'd share some of them with you.
Today's picture is from Auldhame Beach near Dunbar. There's a small fee to use the privately owned road to get access, but it's worth it many times over. There are no facilities and no mobile phone coverage. The only thing that would make it better would be if they allowed overnight stops. This would be a great view to wake to.
By the next post I should be north of Edinburgh, so stay tuned for pictures of the stunning area between Dundee and Cairn Gorm.
